Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil - Our story

Our Story

Welcome to Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil. We hope you enjoy learning a little more about our story and why we are so passionate about what we do.

Adam Palmer first took over the farm at Breckenholme in 2000. Following in his grandfather’s footsteps he continued to farm both arable crops and sheep, but was excited to grow the business and diversify into something new.

Back in 2008 we pressed and sold our first bottle of cold pressed rapeseed oil, at our first ever Farmers Market. Since then, our range has grown to see us produce a wide number of products to include a range of flavoured oils, dressings and mayonnaises, but one thing remains the same. Everything is still 100% made by us here on our farm on the Yorkshire Wolds and everything is made with the base ingredient of our Great Taste Award-winning Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil.

Our business is a family affair, with a passionate team which has grown from family and friends, allowing us to keep our brand close to our hearts. Adam’s father is our Technical Director, who also can be seen behind a farmers’ market stall when he can!  The team has certainly expanded since the early days, but we are still passionate about low food miles and making the most of the wonderful produce Yorkshire and the UK have to offer. Working collaboratively is hugely important to us and we are particularly proud of our products created with other local producers. You can find our products stocked in over 150 independent stores in Yorkshire and growing.

As we continue to farm here on the Yorkshire Wolds and indeed continue to cold press our oil, we look to building a more sustainable future. As a small business it is often easier for us to make the small changes necessary to make more conscious decisions.

As ever, we are always keen to hear from you, email us your recipes, let us know of an event we may be interested in or a shop you would like to see stocking us. If you would like us to keep in touch with you then sign up for our fortnightly newsletter full of seasonal recipe ideas, new products and promotions.
