OUR 10th GREAT YORKSHIRE SHOW
When we first realised that 2022 will be our 10th year exhibiting at the Great Yorkshire Show my initial reaction was – it can’t be! To be honest, neither Adam or I can quite believe it’s been 10 years (well, 11 with the missing Covid year!). I still vividly remember setting up at the first few shows, usually with toddlers in arms.
Over the years the show has become our flagship event, where we have the opportunity to meet so many of our customers. Something that is really special to us at this show, as we are asked lots of questions about the seed, how we farm and how the business has grown. Adam is always on hand and happy to help! We also have a lot of customers at the event that have visited us every single year, how amazing is that!
It’s also a growing community, with many of our producer friends also exhibiting at the event. The teams staple lunch is Shepherds Purse Yorkshire Blue on a Lottie Shaw’s Parkin Biscuit (possibly with a sneaky Masons Gin in hand!) Not just meeting up with producers, the show’s broad draw also means we can catch up with friends from across the wider farming community.
Over the years we’ve seen brands grow and become a driving force in the Yorkshire food and drink Scene. For many a year, Sue Nelson, aka the Yorkshire Food Finder has hosted the cookery theatre (often armed with a bottle of Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil) showcasing the very best Yorkshire food and drink. We’re really looking forward to catching some of the demos this year - see what’s happening on the GYS website
Some of my personal memories are around us staying at the event as a family, our children have been every year of their lives and it’s become a family event for us. As an exhibitor, I’m proud to remember the day Adam was introduced to HRH Prince Charles, the launch of our Limited Edition Dressings with both Shepherds Purse Cheeses and Masons of Yorkshire, having our oil cooked with on stage on the cookery theatre, the rain, the mud(!), the sunshine, but undoubtedly the best part of the show for us is seeing you. All our amazing customers who come and see us, say hello and share with us how they use our products, what they love, and what they don’t!
